It has been several years since I wrote a mouse pad review. In 2016 I reviewed the SteelSeries QcK mousepad which I still keep in my laptop bag for emergencies. It hasn’t aged well as there is a noticeable crease from it being folded for a long period of time. There is some slight fraying on the stitching as well. It basically looks its age for being ten years old.

In 2020 I reviewed a much bigger mousepad that had RGB lighting on the edges and a built in USB hub. Sadly, that particular mousepad seems to be discontinued. Before receiving the Corsair MM PRO, I was using a Razor Gigantus V2 mousepad at home and a fifteen plus year old Rocketfish dual sided aluminum mousepad at work.

Out of all of the mousepads that I have access to, the Corsair MM PRO outshines them all. However, it’s also more expensive than all of them. While the asking price is $59.99, I have seen the black model on sale for $40 on Amazon.

We were sent the large model to review, if you want a smaller and cheaper option, the medium sells for $30 and the gray model is currently on sale for $25 on Corsair’s website. If you have a lot of desk space that you want to cover, the large is great, but the medium is better for more confined surfaces.

The Corsair MM PRO feels great to use and I can understand why their targeted audience of eSports gamers would love it. The Polyurethane base grips the surface nicely and does not slide during use. The 4mm padding is super comfortable while not elevating your wrists too much.

At home, I have a white desktop, keyboard, and mouse. The grey mousepad matches really well with the lighter colored hardware I’m using. There is one big drawback to this color choice. Stains. I have only been using this mousepad for a couple of weeks and there is already a circle mark that won’t go away. In a semi-drowsy state, I likely placed a bowl or mug on it instead of the coaster on my desk. Thankfully, this mousepad is hand washable.

Unlike the Razor mousepad I use at home, the Corsair MM PRO has stitching along the edges to add durability. Even better, the stitching slopes downward so it doesn’t get in your way or feel uncomfortable whatsoever.

At work I use a Corsair M65 mouse and when paired with the MM PRO it glides like a dream. Before switching, I was noticing friction when using my old Rocketfish mousepad and the M65 mouse. Cleaning the underside of the mouse and the mousepad did not resolve this matter. Switching to the MM PRO made a world of difference. I think it’s time to retire the Rocketfish mousepad.

I only took this mousepad to work and back one day and I already broke it. When packing up the mousepad I folded it instead of rolling it, and as a result the bottom liner now has an 8" crack in it. I can understand this happening during extended periods of time, but this happened during one day of transit. My SteelSeries QcK mousepad has been stashed in my laptop bag for years and has a crease in it, not a crack.

If you can snag a good deal on the Corsair MM PRO Control Cloth Large Gaming Mouse Pad I would recommend picking one up. If you’re concerned about stains (or have kids!), I would recommend going with the black model. If you plan on traveling with this mousepad, be sure to roll it up!
