Synth Riders 90s Rock Music Pack DLC (PSVR2)

Game Info:

Synth Riders 90s Rock Music Pack DLC
Developed by: Kluge Interactive
Published by: Kluge Interactive
Release date: May 15, 2025
Available on: Steam, MetaQuest, PSVR2
Genre: Rhythm
Number of players: Single-player, up to five players online
MSRP: $7.99

Thank you Kluge Interactive for sending us this DLC pack to review!

The 90s had some definitive music, especially when it came to alternative rock. While I owned a Red Hot Chili Peppers album, I am at least familiar with all of the songs in this DLC pack. I’ll admit that I was listening more to dance music in the 90s than grunge rock. I do find it funny that Weird Al parodied two of the songs in this music pack ("Give it Away" to "Bedrock Anthem" and "Lump" to "Gump").

You can buy each of the five songs individually for $1.99 or you can save 20% by purchasing the bundle for $7.95. The five tracks include:

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Give It Away"
Blur - "Song 2"
Soundgarden - "Black Hole Sun"
Radiohead - "Creep"
The Presidents of the United States of America - "Lump"

The video is missing.
Highlights:

Strong Points: Nice sampling of 90s rock music
Weak Points: No free tracks or experience level
Moral Warnings: Minor language (hell); references to sex

Nothing has changed gameplay wise. You have to touch similarly-colored orbs with your hands. Your left hand is blue while the right one is pink. Green orbs can be tapped with either hand and orange ones require both hands to get credit. There are also many pink walls that you have to dodge. Pink orbs placed near these obstacles may be hard to see at times.

Tapping the orbs alone will increase your combo, but if you look closely, the orbs are rotating. For maximum points you should aim to match them up with your hand positions, but that takes some quick reflexes!

Synth Riders 90s Rock Music Pack DLC
Score Breakdown:
Higher is better
(10/10 is perfect)

Game Score - 86%
Gameplay - 15/20
Graphics - 8/10
Sound - 10/10
Stability - 5/5
Controls - 5/5

Morality Score - 92%
Violence: 10/10
Language: 8/10
Sexual Content: 8/10
Occult/Supernatural: 10/10
Cultural/moral/Ethical: 10/10

You should be able to play the entire tracklist in under twenty-five minutes. There are online leaderboards to compare your score against. I won’t be dethroning anyone soon as the scores from my feeble attempts are half of the top place holders. You can change the difficulty for added replay value. Lastly, you can join multiplayer and compete against five players at a time!

This bundle is pretty family friendly but at least one of the songs has the word hell in the lyrics. There’s also a reference to sex with the phrase “between the sheets”.

If you’re a fan of 90s rock music, this DLC is worth checking out. While there are no free tracks or experience levels in this DLC pack, the great selection of music tracks are worth the price of admission. If you really enjoy Synth Riders you can buy all of the available DLC in a Steam Bundle. Upcoming DLCs are not included in it though.
