We recently reviewed the Epomaker HE68 keyboard which is great for users who appreciate smaller keyboards. I personally prefer having a number pad and fast access to a print screen button without relying on keyboard shortcuts. At work, I use the be quiet! Light Mount keyboard because it has super quiet switches. The Epomaker TH-99’s Sea Salt Silent switches are equally as quiet and feel amazing to type on. The only thing I missed from the Light Mount is the volume knob. For $5 more than the standard version, Epomaker offers a Pro version that has a volume knob and an LCD screen.

The Epomaker TH99 mechanical keyboard supports three different ways to connect it. You can connect or charge it with a USB C cable or connect wirelessly via Blutooth 5.0 or with a USB dongle (2.4GHz wireless). The mode of connectivity does impact the polling rate and latency. I am seriously impressed with the battery life. The 8000mAh battery has been lasting me a month so far between taking this keyboard to and from work and home. Epomaker’s website advertises 800 hours on a single charge and they are not exaggerating here. The software doesn’t give you an exact percentage, but after using this keyboard for a month it still has about 30% left. To conserve the battery, the LEDS will turn off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity.

The software lets you remap the keys and allows you record and assign macros. You can customize the RGB lighting and there are twenty preset animation patterns to choose from. The animations include SingleOn, SingleOff, Glittering, Falling, Colourful, Breath, Spectrum, Outward, Scrolling, Rolling, Rotating, Explode, Launch, Ripples, Flowing, Pulsating, Tilt, and Shuttle. If desired, the LED lighting can be disabled. Many of the patterns utilize multiple colors while others let you single out a particular color. If you listen to music or podcasts often, you may like the Music Rhythm mode which alters the keyboard lighting based on the audio output. Personally, I have my keyboard set to the Rolling pattern with purple lighting.

Build-wise the Epomaker TH99 is quite impressive. The PBT 102 keycaps are grease-resistant and double-shot so the lettering won’t wear off. You can swap out the switches (but why would you?!) with any that support 3 or 5 pin connections. The RGB lighting is south-facing if you want to replace your keys with south-facing letters. The braided USB cable is a nice touch too.

Unlike the Redragon Artemis K719 Pro I reviewed, the Epomaker TH99 is firm and does not flex when force is applied to it. A wrist rest is not included, but you can adjust the keyboard’s angle by propping it up with foldable lifts on the back of it. There are two size options and they make satisfying clicking noises if you’re looking for something to fidget with.

The Epomaker TH99 offers a lot of premium features at an affordable price. The list price on Epomaker’s website is $82.99 and they often have promo codes or sales happening. As of this review the Epomaker TH99 can be had for under $67 on Amazon. If you’re like me and prefer a volume knob, look into the Pro version that’s only a few dollars more. All in all, the Epomaker TH99 is an excellent choice for business users and gamers alike. I'm still blown away by the excellent battery life.
