Thank you Circle Entertainment for sending us this game to review!

Many people are familiar with the Rubik's Cube where you have to align all of the similar colors to one side of the cube.  Wakedas is a one sided version where you have to slide the tiles horizontally or vertically so that all of the colors are aligned with each other.  There are three worlds (sky, seaside, forest) with one hundred levels each.  They get gradually harder and the levels increase the grid size from 3x3 to 4x4, and lastly, 5x5.

The game starts off easy with only two colors to match up.  You can take as long as you like and undo your moves as much as you like.  When you're close to solving the puzzle you'll get a "so close" message on your screen.  After solving the puzzle, you'll earn between one and three stars depending on how many moves you took.  While it's okay to take an average score and move on, I enjoyed going back and re-solving the puzzles using less moves.

Highlights:

Strong Points: Simple yet challenging game play
Weak Points: No built in manual or documentation
Moral Warnings: None!

The difficulty ramps up at a decent pace by adding more colors and partially colored tiles.  Things get a bit trickier when stuck tiles are added and give you less space to work with.  The most annoying tiles are the ones that rotate as you move them.  It's hard enough to get them in the proper place, now you have to worry about them being in the correct position.

Picking up the game is pretty easy, but mastering it takes a lot of skill and practice.  When I first saw multicolored titles I wasn't sure what to do with them.  A built in manual or help file would have been nice.  Fortunately, I was able figure it out and move on.

Score Breakdown:
Higher is better
(10/10 is perfect)

Game Score - 78%
Gameplay - 16/20
Graphics - 7/10
Sound - 7/10
Stability - 5/5
Controls - 4/5 Morality Score - 100%
Violence - 10/10
Language - 10/10
Sexual Content - 10/10
Occult/Supernatural - 10/10
Cultural/Moral/Ethical - 10/10

Wakedas is a simple game with pleasant visuals and background music.  Each world has various animated backdrops that do a little something when you solve a puzzle.  For example, in the sky level you may see balloons floating away in the sky upon completing a puzzle.  Other than the 3DS home screen, I didn't see much utilization of the 3D effects and did not miss them with the 3D disabled.

My kids enjoyed playing the game (thus proving that there are an unlimited number of turns and undos).  Like many puzzle games, this one is family friendly.  It's a great mental exercise for anyone that enjoys a challenge.

For the meager asking price of $2.99 on Nintendo's eShop, you get your money's worth.  There are three hundred levels and you can play them in any order after you unlock the area they're in.  I enjoyed how I could easily pick up and play this game at any random time.  It was great to have on hand while waiting in roller coaster lines this summer.
